A small herd grazing in the long shadow of the pyramids at first light, as if the four thousand years between the pharaohs and now were a slow afternoon. The monuments came and went and were dug up and roped off, and the cattle just kept grazing at the foot of them the entire time. The pyramids are the tourist attraction. The cows are the continuity.
