Every telling of the flood shows the animals boarding two by two, and if you watch closely in the old woodcuts, the cattle are always at the front of the line. Of course they are. When the world is ending and one vessel carries what survives into the next age, you bring the source of abundance first. The Ark is just another rocket. The flood is just another paradigm shift. The cattle always go first.
